Trash Pickup Increase
As of March 1, 2008, the cost of trash and garbage pickup will cost $13.00 per month. This increase by our provider is a result of higher fuel costs and escalating land fill fees and costs. After receiving this new one year contract, another bid was requested from a competitor and this price exceeded the $13.00 per month. In as much as this increase is regrettable, comparable prices in other subdivisions in our area reflect that the Oaks residents are receiving a competitive price.

Boy Scout Troop 56 Stars & Stripes Across Humble Flag Program
Have you ever noticed all the flags that are uniformly displayed on many homes in our neighborhoods on Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day? It is quite a stirring, patriotic sight. If you would like to have a flag displayed in front of your house on those holidays, you need to contact the Boy Scouts of Troop 56, chartered by the Atascocita United Methodist Church. For a fee of $25, the Boy Scouts will display a 3x5 foot US Flag in front of your house four times per year. The Troop is currently taking subscriptions for the 2008 season. Only the neighborhoods of Pinehurst, Pines, Shores, and the Oaks are serviced by Troop 56. You can get the subscription form and more information from the Troop 56 Website at http://www.troop56.mytroop.us. As a service project to the community, Troop 56 also displays flags in the medians of our major thoroughfares. The majority of the money raised is used for equipment and camping trips throughout the year.
